Portland and Freeport Today

We left Kennebunkport today and travelled to Portland, Maine. In Portland, we went on a 2 hour boat tour. We saw 5 light houses, including the smallest Light house in Maine. We saw an osprey sitting on a nest, an eagle, and a seal. It was windy and threatened rain but the rain never came. After the boat tour, we ate lunch on a small ship. My clam chowder and lobster roll was excellent1 Then we went on a trolley tour. We saw a lot of sites around Portland. We saw the Portland Light. (That's what they call lighthouses here.) It was a one of the most photographed light houses in Maine. We left Portland and drove to Freeport. Wow! I knew that it was the home of L L Bean but I had no idea there were so many outlets here. After another great seafood dinner (Tom & Betty had steak), we went to see the L L Bean Store. Jim was the only one who found a bargain. Of course we had to stop for ice cream at a McDonalds. I didn't know that it was a McDonalds. It is in an old house on the main street. There is a small arch on the side of it. Tomorrow we will drive to the Owlshead Transportation Museum, a couple of hours away. The locks covering the fence are love locks. Lovers are supposed to put the lock on the fence and throw away the key. There love is forever. The Berlin Wall Memorial was a reminder of the end of WWII. A sad reminder.
