Made it to Maine

1760.4. Our miles driven to date. We are in South Portland, Maine. Jim will pick up Kim from the airport tomorrow and we will all be in Kennebunkport, Maine tomorrow night. Kim will be doing the Lighthouse & Lobsters Tour with us. We traveled through 4 states today: New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and. Maine. We saw moose crossing signs today but all that crossed is a deer and a turkey. The deer ran right in front of Tom & Betty's car. There were many snow mobile crossing signs. We noticed the fire hydrants had flags about 3 feet above the hydrants. That's when we knew that we were in heavy snow country. WE tried to buy water and soda before we crossed into Maine because we didn't want to deal with deposit fees. The lady in the store wanted Betty to pay $20.00 for a case of 20 bottles. It was another great weather day with breath-taking scenery. The only car problems we had is getting away when people saw us at gas stations. We are looking for a moose but haven't seen one yet. I forgot to mention the whitewater and the covered bridges. We followed whitewater streams for several hours today. Wow!
